Serena Kay was born in London and after graduating from London University with
a Bachelor of Music (Hons), completed the Opera Course at the Royal College of
Music as the Veronica Mansfield Scholar, studying with Lillian Watson
and is currently the RCM Rosemary Bugden Junior Fellow.
In 2001, Serena performed Marcellina (Figaro) for the London Mozart Players;
Marianna (Il Signor Bruschino) for London Royal Schools Opera; Guido
(Flavio) for the London Handel Society/London Royal Schools Opera; Rosina
(Barber of Seville) for Clonter Opera; Bettina (Look, No Hands!) for the
Young Vic Push Festival; Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte) for the Mananan
Opera Festival on the Isle of Man; covered Doralice (La Gazzetta) for
Garsington Opera; and performed Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream, director
John Copley) to critical acclaim for the Benjamin Britten International Opera
School.
In 2002, Serena performed Zita (Gianni Schicchi) for the BBIOS and the title
role in Rossini's Cenerentola for Mid Wales Opera. Other roles performed
include title role Carmen, Suzuki (Madame Butterfly) for Park Opera; title
role Iolanthe (WEOS) and covered the roles of Cherubino (Figaro) and
Lisetta (Il Mondo della Luna) for Garsington Opera.

Serena has given two Purcell Room concerts Fantaisies de lšOrient and The Age
of Bel Canto; and at the Queen Elizabeth Hall performed the role of Guest at
the world premiere of Havergal Brianšs The Cenci. On a British Council
tour of Greece she premiered the song cycle Lumen Tristis (Christos Pittas) in
the Greek language and recently performed the title role in J C Bach's opera
Adriano in Siria in a concert performance at St John's Smith Square.
Recent solo Oratorio performances include Requiem (Mozart), Mass in A flat
(Schubert) and B Minor Mass (Bach) all at St John's Smith Square; Gloria
(Vivaldi) at St Martinšs in the Fields; the London premiere of
Stabat Mater (Tucapsky) at St James's Piccadilly; In the Beginning
(Copland) and Requiem (Durufle) both at Norwich Cathedral & Portsmouth
Cathedral; Dream of Gerontius (Elgar); Alto Rhapsody (Brahms); 2nd
Symphony (Mahler); B Minor Mass (Bach) in Singapore; and a
televised Messiah (Handel) at the English Music Festival.
CD Recordings include Mollison's soundtracks for two BBC TV series Earth
Story (Chandos) and Wild Weather; Kaiser's Xmas Cantata (Guild Music); Banarzi's
Lux Aeterna (Aquamarin); and Une Journee Tranquille (feature film).
